Cesar Millan LIVE in Jacksonville Florida
In case you haven’t heard Cesar Millan The Dog Whisperer will be here in Jacksonville on Saturday June 1st! This amazing event is being presented by The Artist Series and I can’t even begin to express how excited we are to be attending to see Cesar Millan LIVE right here in Jacksonville!!!!!!!! We have been fans of The Dog Whisperer for years and years and can’t believe we finally get to see him in person after watching his shows, reading his books, buying his magazine, and collecting all The Dog Whisperer seasons on DVD!
Of course Cesar will be accompanied with his boy Junior on stage but he will also be working with some local rescue groups who will be bringing some of their adoptable dogs. These dogs will be up for adoption following the show. I don’t know about you, but we are ecstatic about seeing him work with these shelter pups.
We have our books Be The Pack Leader and Cesar’s Way packed up with fingers, toes, and paws crossed that we can get them autographed by The Dog Whisperer himself but we’ll also settle for a paw print signature from Junior.

Luci decided it was time to put on her reading glasses and do a little reading of her own. She picked two great books and was off to a great start but didn't realize how sleepy reading was going to make her. She ended up dozing off and dreaming about if she read Cesar's books and practiced what he teaches that she would be able to attend to see Cesar and Junior on Saturday. The girls are a little bummed they won't get to meet Junior but we promised them we would try our very best to get a paw print autograph for them from Junior himself!

10TH Annual GoldenFest
Goldenfest is almost here and the weather is looking promising with nothing but sunny skies. This Saturday April 6, 2013 GREAT Rescue of Northeast Florida will be hosting their 10th annual GoldenFest event at Dogwood Park. GREAT Rescue is a 501 (c)(3) non profit organization and all proceeds raised from this event will benefit G.R.E.A.T Rescue to help them continue rescuing, rehabilitating, and re-homing Golden Retrievers and Golden-mixes throughout Jacksonville and all of Northeast Florida! Over 749 Golden Retrievers have been rescued since December 2000.
We are ecstatic about meeting all the wonderful Golden Retrievers in Jacksonville! City Dog Photography participated last year for the first time and boy oh boy did we have a BLAST! It was like watching “goldens gone wild!” At most dog events we are vendors at dogs are required to be on a leash, but what is so wonderful about GoldenFest is that your dogs get to run free as the wind in the enclosed events area at Dogwood Park! The goldens get to let their hair down and do what they do best as goldens….. have FUN!
You will have many options to keep you busy during Goldenfest with many activities happening. There will be a silent auction, refreshments & food from Hurricane Grill & Wings | Julington Creek. Local dog vendor informational booths such as Southern Inspired Treats (SIT), Pet World, Green Cove Animal Hospital, and Southeast Veterinary Oncology and Internal Medicine will be setup. Music will be provided by DJ Roc, and three different contests for your pup to enter including newspaper retrieval, tennis ball retrieval, and best trick. So does your golden have what it takes to win one of these contests or all? Well you’ll have to enter them to find out! If you pup is not the competitive type and prefers to play in the water, small swimming pools will be accessible for them to make a splash in!
Don’t forget to stop by our booth because we’ll have some fun things going on including a pretty awesome giveaway! Patriotic Paws will also be set up next to us selling custom reversible dog bandannas made specially just for G.R.E.A.T. Rescue and for your goldens. Sizes will be available in Large, XL, and XXL to make sure it fits those furry golden necks. Here are a few "sneak peeks" of what Patriotic Paws has in store for you.

Admission: $15 for Goldens and their families. Non-golden Furry siblings are also welcomed to out for a day of fun! Just a few things to note before you attend: All male dogs over 8 months old MUST be neutered to be allowed in the park. Dogs must be well behaved off leash. And, if you are bringing a "sibling" that is a small dog, keep an eye on it to ensure it is safe around the many large, excited Goldens running around! If you prefer to sit down and take in all the festivities bring a lawn chair or blanket to sit on the grass. It’s going to be a gorgeous day!

We will be having a doggie basket giveaway full of goodies for one lucky pooch! Raffle tickets will be on sell $1 or 6 tickets for $5 with 100% of proceeds going to Dawson the 18th month golden retriever that came from a rural shelter. He has been shot in the leg close to his elbow. The bullet is left inside and he has a broken ulna. The bullet will remain in Dawson’s leg and he will be in a cast for a few weeks while the bone heals. He will have to go to the specialist every week for a check-up and dressing change. It still is going to cost several hundred dollars, though, so your generous gesture by purchasing raffle tickets or by going directly to http://greatrescue.org/support/donate/ to make a donation is very much appreciated! GREAT Rescue is excited to help this adorable sweet boy but he needs your HELP! Dawson is currently being fostered by GREAT Rescue of Northeast Florida.

Please continue to help me! My name is Dawson, I don't know why, but I was shot & still have a bullet in my shoulder area. I will have to continue having medical care for the next few months & have my cast changed monthly. The costs, even with generous vet discounts, are really high! I know it takes a lot to help me live a good life, but I will be forever GREATful!! You can make a donation, no matter how large or small, it will be SO appreciated!

My two lucky charms Mia and Luci pulled out their St. Patty’s Sunday best just to wish you all a Happy St. Patrick’s Day! Boy do theses two know how to work those sparkly green ties! Is your dog your lucky charm, your four-leaf clover, your furry shamrock? Well I feel LUCKY everyday to have these two fur balls in my life!
Today March 17,2013, City Dog Photography will be set-up at The Jacksonville Landing downtown for North Florida’s biggest pooch party Yappy Hour’s St. PAWty’s Day from 2:00-5:00pm! The event is completely free and many local dog vendors will also be setup. There will also be a king & queen contest…..who will be crowned the queen or king of GREEN? After the pups are tired out from the St. Patty fun, The Jacksonville Landing will be having a fireworks show at 9:30pm.
We are excited to see all the St.Patty pups dressed in green and sporting their Irish spirit. Be sure to come by our booth because we will be doing something we’ve never done before. I won’t give it all away but I will give you a hit….it involves a gift certificate. Maybe you’ll have the luck of the Irish on your side and win what we have in store for you! We’ll even scratch your dog FUR LUCK!
